nothing new

there hasnt been much hapeening in the way of the tree.  i have no money so i cant buy any certs or bits that i want to get like the 1911 census for the lackey household.

at the end of august i did go and visit west rainton church (where Robert & Mary are burried), and searched the overspill graveyard for their son (and my great grandfather) Gardiner and his family grave but i couldnt find it.  i also saw the house that they lived in.  it was really nice to see where they lived and worked etc.

after the visit i did send an email to the vicar of the churcha sking if they could advise me as to where the missing grave was but as of yet i have had no reply.  i may have to send them a letter and see if i get an answer that way.

more lackey news

following on from making contact with dads cousin, he gave me the address of 1 of the aunts and i have also made contact with her an she has replied to my letter.

i have had a new person join the lackey forum, hopefully they will return and post and possibly share some family information with me.

lackey family

alot of my family information has come from my father.  he has given me the names and dates of birth and death for the people that he can remember.  he always went through who was who in the packs of family photos when i was younger.  sadly not many got named on the reverse of the photos.  so after dad died in 2006 i hit abit of a wall.

apart from the above i had found a record on a website that gave the name of a Robert Lackey of irelands parents.  i took this as gospel and that it was my Robert Lackeys parents.  i went happily tracing this line back as far as i could etc.  to be greated with a shock when i bought Robert & Mary's marriage certificate.  the father named on the cert WASN'T the 1 i had spent the past few months tracing.

i contacted a couple of ladies that are also related and tracing this line and they also had the original father that i had.  so we were all wrong and had to delete a large section of our trees and add the new information that we had been  presented with.

this new information has caused quite a few problems, as we are unable to find Roberts mothers name or any other information on his father.  this is quite a problem.

i recently made contact with 1 of dads cousins, who is obviously still living!  He has been a great help to me and has provided me with LOTS of photos of the family and information relating to them.  He has also given me details of other living members of the family, who i have also conacted.  i am so pleased that i am not 1 of the last 4 living lackey's on my line like i thought i was a few months ago.

i am slowly buying the certificates for all of my lackey family.  i have got quite a few BUT there are lots more to go.  at £7 per certificate it's not cheap and i am on limited income so i cant just go and buy them.
